There is an old nursery rhyme, based on equine militarism, that goes something like this:
For want of a nail, a shoe was lost.
For want of a shoe, a horse was lost.
For want of a horse, the battle was lost.
The moral seems to be that everything contributing to the success of an endeavor is significant. Here at MMS, we see good aircraft maintenance as very significant.
Last November I learned that virtually all missionary activity in one country was threatened by not having a replacement for an aircraft maintenance specialist who had to return to his home country. Air transportation there is vital to the missionary effort. I understand the crisis was avoided by reassigning a mechanic, which undoubtedly left one of their other programs short handed.
In a different place, a mission organization was ready to begin a new aviation program in a country rapidly opening to Christian missionaries. They had the plane, pilot, spare parts and permission to enter the country. A considerable delay was caused by finding someone to join the team to maintain the plane.
There is an acute shortage of aviation maintenance personnel in missions. Aircraft mechanics with a heart for serving others in the name of Christ are urgently needed. We are instructed in Scripture to ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest field (ref. Luke 10:2). Please join us in asking God to provide more aircraft maintenance specialists.
Prayer and Praise
Please Pray
...for God to provide the remaining funds needed to complete the hangar expansion debt-free.
...that all building components would arrive on time and go together without complications.
...that we will be fully functional in our new hangar by the end of June.
...for the Lord to provide a river of able MMS candidates to replace the steady stream of MMS graduates leaving for the field.
Praise God
...for His bountiful provision toward expanding our hangar facility.
...that His Spirit is alive and well and working in all of us at MMS!
...for our prayer and financial support teams which allow us to serve Him as called.
...for the training and administrative staff of MMS dedicated to preparing people and planes for a lifetime of missions service.
